  • Waitlist Policy

Lakeview School does not charge a fee to be on our wait list. It is intended to put order to need for enrollment and have a public & clear system, available to parents at any reasonable time.
    Limited Spaces
Infant, Toddler and Casa levels are regulated under the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) in Ontario. Lakeview is also an accredited school through the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators (CCMA), which holds us accountable to the highest standards in Canada of Montessori philosophy and pedagogy. Compliance with provincial legislation and our accreditation affects various aspects of the number and make-up of each classroom environment, thereby affecting the wait list. Therefore, wait list priority may be given to children of a specific age in certain cases. We are not always able to accommodate all applicants. It is our practice to keep your child’s inquiry form on file for one year with the intention to offer a spot when a position becomes available according to the procedure below:

    Procedure:
    1. To be included on the waitlist for our you are required to fill out an online inquiry form.

    2. The wait list is compiled in order and preference is given by the following criteria:
    a) Date the form was submitted.
    b) Sibling(s) already attending the school.
    c) Full-time over part-time enrollment.
    d) Families who are considering Lakeview as a long-term educational program for their child(ren). As a non-profit private school, enrollment in the preschool facilitates sustainability in our elementary school. You will be asked on the online inquiry form if you are considering Lakeview for preschool only (up to Senior Kindergarten) or if your child will potentially stay until Grade 8.

    3. When your child(ren)’s spot(s) become available a deposit must be received within 7 days or we will move to the next person on the list, and you will lose your spot.

    Access to Waitlist
Families on the waitlist may contact the Admissions Coordinator to inquire about the current composition of the waitlist for their child’s age level. To maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all families in the wait pool, access to the full wait pool will not be permitted.

  • New Lakeview Families

Finding the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make for your child and we are here to support you on your journey. Our goal throughout the admissions process is to help provide you and your family with as much information as possible about the Montessori model and Lakeview Montessori School so that you may make an informed decision in selecting the best school for your child and family.

Tours: A family will be contacted when a spot becomes available for a private tour which includes a parent information session. This will provide valuable information about the Montessori philosophy and the culture at Lakeview. As part of the tour, all questions will be addressed, and parents will be given an information package to take home to review. At the end of the tour, a date will be scheduled for your child(ren) to visit.
  • Preschool Families

Student Visit for Preschool – Infant, Toddler and Casa
This is a special time when the child will spend a half hour in the class to become comfortable with the idea of coming to school and to see if the program is a good fit. More than one visit may be required and will be agreed upon by the parent/guardians and Admissions Coordinator.

    Offer of Admission for Preschool
Once the tour, parent information session and the visit for the child(ren) have been completed, an offer of admission with the link to register your child will be sent through email. As part of the complete registration process, the child’s immunization record, health card number and passport or birth certificate will be requested and collected as required by the CCEYA. These will be added to your child’s Ontario Student Record and kept in a confidential location in the school office. Parental release forms and auto-debit forms will be collected to finalize the registration process.
  • Elementary Families

Student Visit for Elementary – Lower, Upper and Senior
At the elementary level (age 6 to 14 years) when applicable space is available, the Admissions Coordinator will schedule two to three full-day classroom visits for the child(ren) directly after the tour and parent info session. This provides the child a concrete experience and ability to assess if LAKEVIEW is a place they would like to attend. In all cases, we encourage families to discuss together the prospect of registering their child at LAKEVIEW. Involving the child(ren) in this conversation is a critical component and allows them to feel they are an important part of the decision-making process.

You will be required to bring your child’s latest report card from their current school, as well as any other applicable pertinent documents, such as assessments, IEPs, psychological reports and recommendations, etc. At the end of your child’s visit and review of all documents regarding the child, a meeting will be scheduled with the Head of School to discuss the opportunity for admission to Lakeview.

    Offer of Admission for Elementary
If all parties agree that Lakeview is the right placement for you child, an offer of admission will be sent through email with a Letter of Acceptance within one week detailing the start date for your child. This correspondence will also include the link to register your child. As part of the complete registration process, the child’s immunization record, health card number and passport or birth certificate will be requested and collected as required by the Ministry of Education. These will be added to your child’s Ontario Student Record and kept in a confidential location in the school office. Parental release forms and auto-debit forms will be collected to finalize the registration process.
  • Children with Learning Differences and Special Needs

Children with physical, mental, or educational differences are considered for admission. Reasonable accommodations will be made within the parameters of the Montessori philosophy and its implementation in the classroom so that the child does not pose a risk to themself or others. Lakeview Montessori School reserves the right to request up to 3 visits during the admission process for the child to experience our classroom. A recent diagnostic assessment by a qualified professional which identifies the child’s needs within a learning environment is requested. Once accepted to Lakeview, periodic assessment may also be required during the school year and prior to re-enrollment. An educational assessment made during this time will determine the child’s progress and whether our environment supports the developmental needs of the child. Lakeview Montessori School has limited resources to support individual students with exceptional needs, and as a result, parents may be encouraged to contact community partners for further classroom support.

The Montessori method is designed to support the individual needs and interests of your child in a dynamic, hands-on learning environment, with materials and lessons that ignite passion, curiosity, and purpose. Our students emerge as independent, critical thinkers and productive collaborators, prepared for whatever the future may bring, and whatever future they wish to pursue. Dr. Maria Montessori said, “A child’s work is to create the person she/he will become.” We are honored and proud to help each student who passes through our doors to do just that.
