Committee Positions

  • Chair

    • Lead meetings with an open mind and ensuring they stay on topic and professional.
    • Represent the PIC in communications with the Director of Community Development and the Head of School.
    • Encourage participation between PIC and the school community.
    • Oversee projects to ensure that they are completed and within budget.
    • Manage disagreements and encourage positive constructive feedback.
  • Vice-Chair

    • Support the Chair and assume their duties when necessary.
    • Serve as a communication link between the school and the parent community.
    • Assist in delegating tasks and track progress of projects.
    • Act as a mediator if conflicts arise, mediating discussions, resolving issues and offering a balanced perspective.
    • Provide mentorship and development. Mentoring new members and ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities.  
    • Assist with the coordination of event planning.
    • General support for the PIC
  • Secretary

    • Set meeting agendas in collaboration with members
    • Record and distribute meeting minutes.
    • Remind members of meetings, book meeting location with the school, and ensure all members are on all communication.
    • Introduce new members to current members to build the connection.
    • Support event communication and assist in coordination.
    • Manage calendars.
    • Provide overall general administrative support.
  • Members

    • Attend meetings and participate actively engaging in meaningful conversations.
    • Support school events and initiatives by assisting with planning, volunteering/schedule volunteers, and prompting events.
    • Help secure resources to support fundraising events such as sponsorships and donation of raffle items.
    • Partnership with school administration and members fostering a positive relationship between the parent community and the school.
    • Act as an ambassador for the school and share information.
  • All volunteers are required to submit a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Follow volunteer manual code of conduct 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively 
  • Respectful towards one another 
  • Supportive of school vision and mission

At the end of each school year, our parent volunteers are recognized at a volunteer luncheon held at the end of the school year.

The Parent Involvement Committee (PIC) at Lakeview Montessori School is to enhance parental engagement in the school community, support the school’s mission, and strengthen communication between parents and Lakeview. The PIC serves as an advisory body, providing support with school initiatives, help coordinate and execute community events, and assisting with fundraising efforts while fostering a positive and inclusive school culture.
